On the 31st of January, the magazine community, in collaboration with the National Drug Laws Engaged Agency (NDLEA), conducted a comprehensive community program aimed at eradicating the prevalence of Kush within the local area. The program, aptly named “Say No to Kush,” was organized under the guidance of the magazine elder council and attracted significant attention, particularly among the young population that had fallen prey to the harmful effects of Kush.
The program commenced with an energetic and vibrant atmosphere, featuring performances, music, and statements from various people. The NDLEA, in conjunction with the Ministry of Health, provided comprehensive medical assistance, including shaving heads, cleaning wounds, and dressing injuries sustained primarily due to the debilitating consequences of Kush addiction.
The program evoked a mix of emotions as participants shared their testimonies, expressing the profound reasons that led them to delve into Kush consumption. These heartfelt accounts served as both a poignant reminder of the devastating impact of drug abuse and an opportunity for collective healing and reflection.
Mr Andrew Jai Kai Kai, the esteemed Director of NDLEA, delivered a powerful and uncompromising statement, issuing a stern warning to those engaged in the production and distribution of Kush. He emphasized the agency’s unwavering commitment to pursuing and apprehending individuals involved in such illicit activities, irrespective of their status or influence. Mr Kai Kai passionately urged the young Kush addicts to break free from the shackles of addiction and reclaim their lives. The program also emphasized the crucial role of community involvement in combating the menace of Kush. Residents were encouraged to actively report any suspicious activities related to the production or sale of the harmful drug, with the assurance that the NDLEA would swiftly take action against the perpetrators.
The program concluded with heartfelt expressions of gratitude directed towards the magazine elder council, particularly Alhaji Karamoko Jalloh (Pa Jabbie) from the diaspora USA. His unwavering dedication and tireless efforts were instrumental in ensuring the program’s resounding success.
The “Say No to Kush” program stands as a testament to the collective determination of the magazine community, the NDLEA, and various stakeholders to eradicate the devastating impact of Kush on the youth and promote a healthier and brighter future for generations to come.
