Aiah Bayoh, a footballer has found himself in the four walls of the Male Correctional Facility following a robbery with violence scandal.’
On his arraignment before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at the Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown, Bayoh is denied bail and is sent to prison.
Police alleged that the accused persons, on Thursday 21st of December 2023 at School Yard, Murray Town, in Freetown, armed with a knife and robbed Festus Sannoh iPhone Pro max valued at twelve thousand Leones (1200), Gucci cross bag valued at three hundred and seventy Leones (370), locker with key value seven hundred Leones (700) all to the total value of thirteen thousand and seventy Leones (13,070).
Police also alleged that the accused person, immediately after such robbery did use personal violence on Festus Sannoh.
Also, on the above date and place, the accused is accused of robbing Isha King Oppo’s mobile phone valued at eleven thousand Leones (11,000), ladies’ cross bag valued at two hundred and fifty Leones (250) all to the total value of eleven thousand two hundred and fifty Leones (11,250) and used personal violence against her immediately after such robbery.
The accused is facing two charges of robbery with aggravation. However, the accused did not take a plea on the charge because it is a preliminary investigation.
Testifying under oath, the second prosecution witness, Isha King, who happens to be a student of Saint Joseph School recalled that on the day of the alleged incident, she was attending a function when she felt the need to use the restroom where he was allegedly attacked by the accused person. “The accused person attacked me with a knife and forcefully removed my bag which contained an Opeo A17 phone valued at eleven million old Leones.
According to King, the bag also contained a physical cash of two hundred and fifty Leones. The witness told the Court that the prosecution witness number one (another victim) managed to escape from them and called on the attention of a military officer who apprehended the accused and handed him to the Murray Town Police Station.
King added that she later made a statement at the Congo Cross Police Station where he was provided with an endorsed medical request form.
Counsel representing the accused person O.V Gaber requested an adjournment date to cross-examine the witness.
Magistrate Kekura remanded the accused person and he adjourned the matter to the 2nd of February 2024.
