C4D Media Newspaper has been reliably informed today, Thursday, 21st December 2023 that former President Ernest Bai Koroma, who is under investigation for the November 26th failed coup attempt is at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Integrity House, New Building at Tower Hill for interrogation in respect of the referral by the Court of Appeal.
Former President Koroma is currently being interrogated over the sale of shares, owned by the Government of Sierra Leone at the Sierra Rutile LTD. (SRL) in 2012.
To ascertain the veracity of our source, C4D Media Newspaper quickly contacted Mr. Patrick Sandi, the Director of Public Education and External Outreach at the ACC. Mr Sandi confirmed that the former President is at the ACC on referral.
It would be recalled that on Monday, 18th December, Dr. Samura Kamara, the two-times Flag-Bearer of the APC was invited for the same. He was said to have been detained and released on bail condition that he appears when required by the Commission. With this, there is the likelihood that former President Koroma could face the same woe. He could be detained and if lucky like Dr Samura Kamara, most likely be released on the same bail condition. This is double trouble for former president Koroma, who is caught between the devil and the blue deep sea.
Former President Koroma of the APC led Government and Dr Samura Kamara, the former Flag-Bearer of the APC are being investigated by the ACC in respect of the findings and recommendations of the Commissions of Inquiry (COI), which was established by President Bio in 2018 in line with Constitutional Instrument No. 64 of 2018, under Section 147 of the Constitution of Sierra Leone. The two APC leaders were found wanting by the Commissions of Inquiry (COI) over the sale of Government shares at the Sierra Rutile Ltd. The COI strongly implicated former President Ernes Bai Koroma on corruption. They appealed against the COI recommendations and four years on, the empanelled Judges on the matter dismissed the appeals of former President Ernest Bai Koroma and Dr Samura Kamara on 14th December 2023 in their 25-page judgment, and ordered refund
According to the Judgement of the Court of Appeal Judges visa-a- vis Hon. Justice Ivan Sesay, presiding, Hon. Justice Alhaji Momoh-Jah Stevens, and Hon. Justice Adrian Fisher unanimously ordered the two term President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma to pay the sum of USD 135,000.00 to the state for causing financial losses during his tenure.
